Long Thoracic Nerve Palsy is a condition that occurs when the long thoracic nerve is injured or not functioning properly. This nerve controls the serratus anterior muscle, which helps keep the shoulder blade stable against the chest wall and allows smooth shoulder movement. When the nerve is damaged, the shoulder blade may stick out (known as scapular winging), making it difficult to lift the arm, perform overhead activities, or carry out everyday tasks comfortably.
