NEURO REHABILITATION AT HOME (PHYSIOTHERAPY, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, SPEECH THERAPY)

Neuro rehabilitation is essential where the normal body movement pattern and sensation is affected secondary to a neurological disease or injury involving either brain or spinal cord or peripheral nerves.

Neuro rehabilitation helps people with neurological disorders maximise their quality of life. Neurological rehabilitation aims to improve function, reduce symptoms and improve the wellbeing, maximise quality of life.

We work with you to:

Improve your movement, balance, general mobility and fitness (Physiotherapy).

Manage everyday tasks, such as washing and dressing, cooking, coping with memory difficulties (Occupational therapy).

Improve your ability to communicate through speech or other means and manage any eating or drinking difficulties (Speech and language therapy).

Support you and your family to understand more about your condition, explore memory, attention, planning and organising, and help you cope with anxiety and depression (neuropsychology).

This can include a Multi-disciplinary approach with Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Our therapists have specialist training including Bobath, movement science, taping for neurology, splinting, and Bridges stroke self-management.

Conditions that may benefit from Neurological Rehabilitation include:

Vascular disorders, such as Stroke.

Infections such as meningitis, encephalitis, polio, and brain abscesses

Trauma such as brain and spinal cord injury

Structural or neuromuscular disorders such as Bell palsy, cervical spondylosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, brain or spinal cord tumours, peripheral neuropathy, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis and Guillain-Barré syndrome

Degenerative disorders such as Parkinson disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer’s disease.

Use of latest technology like Saebo, NeuroBall, GripAble.

Functional Rehabilitation

Strength and Balance re-education

Tone management (therapeutic management, advice on medication management and Botox)

Assistive devices/equipment for daily routines (like splints)

Kinesiology Taping/ Neuro-proprioceptive Taping

Seating and posture management

Wheelchair assessment

Self management, carer and family education.

Posture and Gait re-education

Functional Electrical stimulation (FES)

Constraint induced movement therapy

Therapeutic pain management

ELDERLY CARE REHABILITATION AT HOME

Acute medical illness or surgery of an elderly person can be associated with a temporary reduction in the ability to carry out the normal activities of daily living.

Conditions that we can help with:

Support safe discharge from NHS or private hospital following illness or injury

Falls prevention

Post-surgery

De-conditioning following illness.

REHAB WITHIN A CARE HOME

At a care home, we can provide active rehabilitation on an individual basis or maintenance therapy, including seating and postural management, moving and handling assessment and management using of various types of transfer equipment.
